Most able-bodied people do not appreciate the importance and the central role of movement in everyday life and are privileged to not think twice about it. For a lot of children assisted by the ILAI Fund, movement is never taken for granted. They struggle or are unable to walk because of various disabilities, illnesses, and injuries and they need special equipment to grant them the ability to move and gain the independence able-bodied people take for granted. We are honored to assist families with special needs children in the purchase of this equipment.
Through this project, we provide families in need with funds to purchase wheelchairs, walkers, braces, crutches, mobility scooters, special shoes and other equipment that gives disabled children the ability to walk and move, and by doing so, grants them unprecedented independence.
A walker or walking frame is a tool for disabled or elderly people who need additional support to maintain balance or stability while walking. A Hart walker is a customized orthotic walking frame which encourages a normal gait pattern. These and other tools are a life changer for disabled children and our goal is to provide as many as we can with the funds to purchase these tools.
